AN ACT

 

amending title 20, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding chapter 22; relating to health insurance coverage.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 20, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding chapter 22, to read:

CHAPTER 22

HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE

ARTICLE 1.  GENERAL PROVISIONS

START_STATUTE20-3201.  Health insurance coverage; geographic location; definition

A.  Notwithstanding any other law, every health care insurer doing business in this state shall pay for any medically necessary medical service provided to an insured regardless of the geographic location where the service is provided.

B.  For the purposes of this section, "health care insurer" means a disability insurer, group disability insurer, blanket disability insurer, health care services organization, hospital service corporation, medical service corporation or hospital and medical service corporation.END_STATUTE

Sec. 2.  Conforming legislation

The legislative council staff shall prepare proposed legislation conforming the Arizona Revised Statutes to the provisions of this act for consideration in the fiftieth legislature, first regular session.
