   An act relating to taxation.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 16, as introduced, Waldron. Income taxes: credit: video games.
   The Personal Income Tax Law and the Corporation Tax Law allow
various credits against the taxes imposed by those laws.
   This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation to establish a tax credit for the video game industry.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
legislation that would establish a tax credit for the multi-billion
dollar video game industry that would offer incentives to the
numerous video game developers, as well as the small start-up
companies developing apps and smartphone software, to encourage these
businesses to stay, or locate, in California.
