AN ACT GIVING PRECEDENCE IN HIRING TO THE CHILDREN OF FIREFIGHTERS WHO DIED IN THE LINE OF DUTY.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require that the name of the son or daughter of a firefighter who, while in the performance of such firefighter's duties was killed or sustained injuries which resulted in his or her death, be placed in the first position on the eligible list for hiring or on the reserve roster for appointment to service in a fire department, provided the son or daughter has passed the required written and physical examination for entrance to the fire service.

Statement of Purpose:

To honor firefighters killed in the line of duty by providing their children with precedence in the hiring process if they seek to become firefighters.
