AN ACT PROVIDING SUPPORT TO SPOUSES OF NURSING HOME RESIDENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 17b of the general statutes be amended to require the Commissioner of Social Services to amend the Medicaid state plan to allow community spouses of institutionalized persons to retain the maximum amount of resources allowable under federal law so that they may live longer independently at home.

Statement of Purpose:

To help spouses of nursing home residents to live independently longer in the community.
