AN ACT CONCERNING ALTERNATIVE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR EXPELLED STUDENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That subsection (d) of section 10-233d of the general statutes be amended to (1) ensure that all students under eighteen years of age, who have been expelled, receive access to an alternative educational opportunity during the period of expulsion; (2) require the local or regional board of education for such expelled student to provide information to the parents or guardians of such expelled student about the alternative educational opportunities available to such expelled student; and (3) require that such alternative educational opportunity provide at least fifteen hours of actual school work per week.

Statement of Purpose:

To provide alternative educational opportunities to all expelled students under eighteen years of age.
