AN ACT PERMITTING PAYMENT OF UNION DUES FROM TEACHERS' RETIREMENT PAYMENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) Upon request by any member, as defined in subdivision (18) of section 10-183b of the general statutes, the Teachers' Retirement Board shall deduct union dues from the payment of benefits to which such member is entitled under the Connecticut teachers' retirement system and shall remit the amount so deducted to the treasurer of the organization designated by such member in such request. Such deduction may be discontinued upon written request thirty days in advance.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
Section 1	from passage	New section

Statement of Purpose:

To allow members participating in the teachers' retirement system to have union dues deducted directly from their pension checks.
