    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the Correctional Education Program;
    3         amending s. 944.801, F.S.; requiring the Correctional
    4         Education Program under the Department of Corrections
    5         to develop and implement a plan, in coordination with
    6         the Department of Business and Professional Regulation
    7         or the applicable board, to ensure an inmate receives
    8         credit for towards licensure if certain criteria is
    9         met; providing an effective date.
   10          
   11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   12  
   13         Section 1. Paragraph (m) is added to subsection (3) of
   14  section 944.801, Florida Statutes, to read:
   15         944.801 Education for state prisoners.—
   16         (3) The responsibilities of the Correctional Education
   17  Program shall be to:
   18         (m) Develop and implement a plan, in coordination with the
   19  Department of Business and Professional Regulation or the
   20  applicable board, to ensure that inmates at an institution who
   21  take classes which meet the necessary curriculum requirements as
   22  determined by applicable law for a profession regulated by the
   23  Department of Business and Professional Regulation or the
   24  applicable board will receive credit towards licensure
   25  requirements for the successful completion of those classes.
   26         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2020.
