    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to applicants for president of a state
    3         university or Florida College System institution;
    4         amending s. 1004.098, F.S.; defining the term “final
    5         group of applicants”; providing an effective date.

    7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
    8  
    9         Section 1. Present subsections (1), (2), and (3) of section
   10  1004.098, Florida Statutes, are redesignated as subsections (2),
   11  (3), and (4), respectively, a new subsection (1) is added to
   12  that section, and paragraph (a) of present subsection (2) of
   13  that section is amended, to read:
   14         1004.098 Applicants for president of a state university or
   15  Florida College System institution; public records exemption;
   16  public meetings exemption.—
   17         (1) For the purposes of this section, the term “final group
   18  of applicants” means no fewer than three and no more than five
   19  applicants who will receive final consideration for president of
   20  a state university or Florida College System institution.
   21         (3)(a)(2)(a) Any portion of a meeting held for the purpose
   22  of identifying or vetting applicants for president of a state
   23  university or a Florida College System institution, including
   24  any portion of a meeting which would disclose personal
   25  identifying information of such applicants which is otherwise
   26  confidential and exempt under subsection (2) (1), is exempt from
   27  s. 286.011 and s. 24(b), Art. I of the State Constitution.
   28         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024.
