    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to public lodging minimum-stay
    3         requirements; creating s. 509.093, F.S.; prohibiting
    4         hotels and motels from requiring minimum stays of
    5         greater than one night; authorizing the Division of
    6         Hotels and Restaurants of the Department of Business
    7         and Professional Regulation to adopt rules; providing
    8         an effective date.

   10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   11  
   12         Section 1. Section 509.093, Florida Statutes, is created to
   13  read:
   14         509.093 Minimum-stay requirements for transient public
   15  lodging establishments prohibited.—
   16         (1)PROHIBITION.—Hotels and motels, as classified in s.
   17  509.242, may not require a minimum stay of greater than one
   18  night.
   19         (2)RULEMAKING.—The division may adopt rules to implement
   20  this section.
   21         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2018.
