A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mr. Mike Dillon and inviting him to be recognized by the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Mike Dillon is a talented and dedicated athletic trainer at the University of Georgia, where he treats injured athletes with care and compassion; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dillon earned a bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina and a master's degree from the University of Alabama; and

WHEREAS, he served as head athletic trainer, baseball coach, and a physical science teacher at Chapin High School in South Carolina before joining the Bulldog family; and

WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted his time, talents, and energy to the athletes of the University of Georgia since 1987, serving as head basketball trainer for ten years and in his current position as associate athletic trainer for the baseball team; and

WHEREAS, a certified strength and conditioning specialist and instructor of first aid and CPR, Mr. Dillon serves as an adjunct instructor for the university's Department of Exercise Science and has co-authored numerous journal articles and book chapters; and

WHEREAS, an active member of his profession, Mr. Dillon is past president of the South Carolina Athletic Trainers Association and the Georgia Athletic Trainers Association and is a member of the Olympic Sports Medicine Society and the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dillon has exhibited extraordinary devotion and sensitivity to Chance Veazey, an athlete involved in an accident which paralyzed him from the waist down, by traveling to visit Chance in the hospital during his free time and helping him through the physical therapy process; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dillon's leadership in the field of sports medicine, his selfless service to his players, and his deep concern for the well-being of others is worthy of recognition.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize Mr. Mike Dillon for his commitment to the student-athletes of Georgia, commend the heartfelt kindness he displays to others, and invite him to be recognized by the House of Representatives at a date and time to be determined by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Mike Dillon.
