A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, Columbus State
University, Dr. Archie Rainey, and Dr. Curtis McClung for establishing the
Georgia Law Enforcement Command College; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College was established by a partnership
between the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police and Columbus State
University to provide advanced leadership and educational training programs for
criminal justice professionals; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College helps to prepare our state's top
criminal justice executives with the necessary skills and leadership training to
meet the needs of our modern, diverse, and technologically administered society;
and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished program attracts leading thinkers and innovators from both
private corporations and public management sectors to devise new and innovative
solutions for addressing criminal justice issues facing our state and nation;
and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Archie Rainey actively participated in the conception, development, and
administration of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College; and
WHEREAS,
under Dr. Rainey's extraordinary leadership, the program has continued to grow,
and as of June 6, 2010, 50 classes have enrolled more than 1,000 students;
and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Curtis McClung was also an early founder and driving force for the
establishment of this outstanding training program, conducting early feasibility
research, acting as a key designer of class curriculum, and serving as a primary
instructor; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College has brought great honor on
themselves and the State of Georgia and served to advance Georgia's law
enforcement community to new and heightened public safety service
standards.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police and Columbus
State University for establishing the distinguished institution of the Georgia
Law Enforcement Command College and commend Dr. Archie Rainey and Dr. Curtis
McClung for their dedication, commitment, and contributions to the college and
to this state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to Dr. Archie
Rainey, Dr. Curtis McClung, and the Georgia Law Enforcement Command
College.
