A RESOLUTION


Commending Dr. Liz Jordan and inviting her to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. Liz Jordan has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced dramatically by her 38 years of superlative service in the field of education; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Jordan earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Edward Waters College, a master's degree in elementary education from Savannah Armstrong University, a doctorate degree in education from Nova University, and holds an education specialist certificate; and

WHEREAS, during her distinguished career with Camden County School System, Dr. Jordan has served as director of the GED program, the extended day program, the summer school program, the school system's accreditation program, and the federal and remedial education program, and was the assistant superintendent for special programs; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Jordan's talent, dedication, and commitment has been recognized with such honors as the State President's Award for Outstanding District Director of the Year, the Camden County Black Business Award, and Teacher of the Year for St. Mary's Elementary School and the Camden County School System; and

WHEREAS, a devoted woman of faith, Dr. Jordan is an active member of Wheeler Street Church of God serving as a member of the Ladies Ministries Choir, the Drama Ministry's founder and director, church clerk, Special Schools Programs coordinator, and the vice president of Silver Bells; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Jordan serves as a role model to her students and neighbors with her community activism with the St. Mary's Library Board, the Hospital Authority Board, the Georgia Compensatory Education Leaders Association, the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders, the Adult Literacy Board, Habitat for Humanity of Camden County, and Court Appointed Special Advocate Board; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Jordan is united in love and marriage to Robert Lee Jordan, Sr., and she is blessed with four remarkable children, Robine, Angela, Robert, and Felecia, and six delightful grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, her significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and students, and the outstanding accomplishments of Dr. Jordan deserve recognition.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Dr. Liz Jordan for her nearly four decades of efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated service to the youth of Georgia and invite her to appear before the House of Representatives at a date and time designated by the Speaker of the House.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Liz Jordan.
