RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Larry Sanders on the occasion of his retirement; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Larry Sanders has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the
vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to
the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as
evidenced dramatically by his 30 years of superlative service with Columbus
Regional Healthcare System; and
WHEREAS,
as chairman and CEO, Mr. Sanders has overseen the formation of Columbus Regional
Healthcare System from The Medical Center, a single facility with annual revenue
of $50 million, to a multi-hospital integrated health delivery system with
annual revenue of more than $1 billion; and
WHEREAS,
during his tenure, the system has increased the number of its facilities and
expanded services by acquiring Doctors Hospital and Hughston Hospital,
established Spring Harbor as a senior living facility, and created the
community's first public-private partnership with the Health and Human Services
Center; and
WHEREAS,
he has overseen the development of Regional Rehabilitation Hospital in Phenix
City, the establishment of a dedicated surgeon-driven Regional Trauma Program,
and the development of the John B. Amos Cancer Center; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Sanders's significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable
patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the
needs of the citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration
of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Sanders has served with honor and distinction with Columbus Regional
Healthcare System, and his vision and unyielding commitment will be sorely
missed upon the occasion of his retirement; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. Larry Sanders for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and
dedicated service to his community and this state; congratulate him upon his
retirement; and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued
health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Larry
Sanders.
