RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Ms. Judy Patricia Colbert Heath on the occasion of her
retirement; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ms. Judy Patricia Colbert Heath has long been recognized by the citizens of
this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep
personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as
evidenced dramatically by her 34 years of superlative service to at risk youth
and their families; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Heath graduated from Lucy C. Laney High School in Richmond County, Georgia,
and holds an associate's degree in criminal justice and a bachelor's degree in
sociology from Augusta College and a master's degree in public administration
from Georgia Southern University; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Heath began her career in 1976 and has served as a community treatment
center worker and a regional contract services coordinator with the Department
of Family and Children Services, a court services worker for Richmond County,
and a juvenile program manager, a residential placement specialist, and an
assistant district director for District 4 and 7 with the Department of Juvenile
Justice; and
WHEREAS,
she has specialized training in the areas of sex offender treatment, family
counseling, and group dynamics; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Heath serves as an example to her community with her involvement on the
boards for Augusta/Richmond County, MH/MR/SA Services, the Department of Family
and Children Services, and Richmond County Transition Services; and
WHEREAS,
she is a member of the Augusta Coalition for Children and Youth, the Georgia
Juvenile Services Association, the American Correction Association, the Augusta
Chapter for The Links, Inc., and the Zodiettes Social Club; and
WHEREAS,
her significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience
and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the
citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admiration of her
colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Heath plans to enjoy her well-deserved retirement with her loving husband
Richard Heath, Jr., and her two children, Richard and Kimberly; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Ms. Judy Patricia Colbert Heath for her over three decades of
efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the children
and families of Georgia; congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her
retirement; and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for continued
health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Judy
Patricia Colbert Heath.
