RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the Monroe Area High School football team on an outstanding season and making
the Elite 8 in the 2010 State Class AAA playoffs; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
through training, talent, and iron will, the Monroe Area High School football
team earned the most wins in school history during the 2010 season;
and
WHEREAS,
the talented 2010 Hurricanes broke the school's record for wins with 11 and set
a new Monroe Area record for total points scored with 493; and
WHEREAS,
the mighty Hurricane defenders crushed opposing teams giving up the fewest
points in the school's regular season history and creating the most turnovers by
a defensive unit in school history; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents;
and the astute direction of head coach Matthew A. Fligg; and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition,
it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate the Monroe Area High School football team on their
outstanding season and on making the Elite 8 in the 2010 State Class AAA State
Tournament and extend their sincere best wishes for future success.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to head coach of
the 2010 Monroe Area High School football team, Matthew A. Fligg.
