The Senate Public Safety Committee offered the following substitute to SB 295:

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend Article 1 of Chapter 14 of Title 40 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions regarding the use of speed detection devices and traffic-control signal monitoring devices, so as to require law enforcement agencies to report on fines collected for speeding fines; to provide for related matters; to provide for an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Article 1 of Chapter 14 of Title 40 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions regarding the use of speed detection devices and traffic-control signal monitoring devices, is amended by adding a new subsection to Code Section 40-14-11, relating to investigations by the public safety commissioner and suspension or revocation of speed detection device permits, to read as follows:
"(e) In order to assist with the enforcement of this Code section, all law enforcement agencies shall submit to the commissioner of community affairs, on an annual basis, a report showing the amount of fines collected for speeding violations not exceeding 17 miles per hour over the established speed limit and the law enforcement agency's annual budget."

SECTION 2.
This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2010.

SECTION 3.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
