A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Lieutenant Colonel Veronica D. Brown on the occasion of her retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, our nation's security continues to rely on patriotic men and women who put their personal lives on hold in order to place themselves in harm's way to protect the freedoms that all United States citizens cherish; and

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Veronica D. Brown has long been recognized by the citizens of this nation for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of the United States; and

WHEREAS, Lt. Colonel Brown earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Virginia State University and her military education includes the chemical corps basic officer course, chemical corps advanced course, combined arms and services school, command and general staff college, public affairs officer course, material acquisition management course, master physical fitness course, and pre-command course; and

WHEREAS, she joined the United States Army Reserve Command in 2002 as the Chemical Organizational Integrator and over the years she has served as PAO Plans and Operation Officer, Executive Officer, and Deputy Public Affairs Officer; and

WHEREAS, Lt. Colonel Brown has inspired this nation's next generation of military leaders as the AGR Officer teaching ROTC to second-year students at Georgia Military College; and

WHEREAS, she has been recognized with numerous honors and accolades, including the Legion of Merit, a Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, a Joint Service Commendation Medal, an Army Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, an Army Achievement Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, a Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, a Humanitarian Service Medal, an Army Service Ribbon, an Overseas Service Ribbon, a Kuwait Liberation Medal, a United Nations Medal, a Korea Defense Service Medal, a Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and a Parachutist Badge; and

WHEREAS, Lt. Colonel Brown embodies the spirit of service, willing to find meaning in something greater than herself, and her decades of service as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty are worthy of recognition.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Lieutenant Colonel Veronica D. Brown for her efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the citizens of her country; congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her retirement; express their gratitude for her sacrifice in serving as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty; and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Lieutenant Colonel Veronica D. Brown.
