A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the Lilli Grace Memorial Foundation; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, after the tragic and untimely loss of their 18 month old daughter, Lilli Grace, Paul and LeAnn Register founded the Lilli Grace Memorial Foundation to raise money for worthy causes; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Register, a native of Smyrna, Georgia, who now lives in Savannah, was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma disease at the age of 22; and

WHEREAS, knowing he wanted children in the future, Mr. Register had his sperm cryogenically frozen, and 14 years later his daughter Lilli Grace was born through in vitro fertilization; and

WHEREAS, 18 months later, Lilli Grace was tragically taken from her loving and proud family in a driveway accident, which is becoming startlingly common; and

WHEREAS, since their loss, the Register family has vowed to create a legacy in their daughter's honor, hoping to share grace with the world; and

WHEREAS, based on their philosophy that no matter how blessed one is in one's own life, there is still room for the grace of kindness to and from others; and

WHEREAS, the foundation's first project after its creation in 2008 was a fund-raising campaign for child safety and local cancer awareness organizations with the Lilli Grace Golf Tournament at Towne Lake Hills Golf Club in Woodstock; and

WHEREAS, the story of the Lilli Grace Memorial Foundation and the strength of the Register family serves as an inspiration for others.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend the work of the Lilli Grace Memorial Foundation.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Lilli Grace Memorial Foundation.
