A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Lilli Grace Memorial Foundation; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
after the tragic and untimely loss of their 18 month old daughter, Lilli Grace,
Paul and LeAnn Register founded the Lilli Grace Memorial Foundation to raise
money for worthy causes; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Register, a native of Smyrna, Georgia, who now lives in Savannah, was
diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma disease at the age of 22; and
WHEREAS,
knowing he wanted children in the future, Mr. Register had his sperm
cryogenically frozen, and 14 years later his daughter Lilli Grace was born
through in vitro fertilization; and
WHEREAS,
18 months later, Lilli Grace was tragically taken from her loving and proud
family in a driveway accident, which is becoming startlingly common;
and
WHEREAS,
since their loss, the Register family has vowed to create a legacy in their
daughter's honor, hoping to share grace with the world; and
WHEREAS,
based on their philosophy that no matter how blessed one is in one's own life,
there is still room for the grace of kindness to and from others;
and
WHEREAS,
the foundation's first project after its creation in 2008 was a fund-raising
campaign for child safety and local cancer awareness organizations with the
Lilli Grace Golf Tournament at Towne Lake Hills Golf Club in Woodstock;
and
WHEREAS,
the story of the Lilli Grace Memorial Foundation and the strength of the
Register family serves as an inspiration for
others.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend the work of the Lilli Grace Memorial Foundation.
