A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Mr. Mike Dawson; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Mike Dawson has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dawson has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community as evidenced dramatically by his superlative service with the Chattooga County Board of Commissioners; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure as a commissioner, Mr. Dawson was instrumental in providing water to the citizens of the Gore-Subligna area on the east side of Chattooga County and the Cloudland area through the Cloudland Water Project; and

WHEREAS, his leadership and support resulted in the improvement of the county's emergency 911 center and the recycling program and expanded the ambulatory services provided to citizens; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dawson operates M&K Trucking Company in the Gore area, serves as Chairman of the Board for the Chattooga County Water District, and is an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, he is united in love and marriage to his wife, Lynn, and they have been blessed with four remarkable children and four delightful grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dawson demonstrated significant organizational and leadership talents, remarkable patience and diplomacy, a keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of Chattooga County during his time as a commissioner which earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, due to Mr. Dawson's dedicated service, Chattooga County has provided its many esteemed citizens with an exceptional quality of life and a welcoming home, and it is abundantly fitting that he be appropriately recognized for his outstanding public service.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend former Commissioner Mike Dawson for his wise and diligent leadership of Chattooga County and extend to him their sincere best wishes for his future health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Mike Dawson.
