A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO TAXATION.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  (a)  The department of taxation shall conduct a study on modernizing the state tax collection system.  The study shall consider the:

     (1)  Measures necessary to modernize the state tax collection system;

     (2)  Estimated costs of these measures;

     (3)  Amount of time necessary to implement these measures; and

     (4)  Projected gains in revenue that these measures would produce.

     (b)  The department of taxation shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the legislature not later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2016.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2030.
