STATE OF HAWAII

HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

RECOGNIZING and COMMENDING THE PERRY AND PRICE SHOW FOR THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE STATE OF HAWAII.

 

 

 

     WHEREAS, for over three decades, Perry and Price has been Hawaii's top morning radio show, capturing twenty-five percent of the state's listening audience and consistently ranking number one in market share nationwide in the adult contemporary format; and

 

     WHEREAS, after the KSSK morning show host DJ Hal "Aku" Lewis passed away in 1983, KSSK moved then-afternoon host Michael W. Perry to the morning slot and paired him with former football coach Larry Price, who at the time was the vice president of public relations for the station; and

 

     WHEREAS, Perry and Price airs six days a week on KSSK-AM and KSSK-FM in Honolulu, Hawaii, including a live breakfast show every Saturday morning that has been previously held at many local establishments including the Ilikai Hotel, Sheraton Waikiki, John Dominis restaurant, and Jimmy Buffet's, and is currently held at the Jade Dynasty Restaurant at the Ala Moana Shopping Center; and

 

     WHEREAS, Perry and Price exhibits a unique spontaneity and its wild unpredictability has attracted many local and national celebrities including Dolly Parton, Oprah Winfrey, and Arnold Schwarzenegger; and

 

     WHEREAS, Perry and Price has gained recognition serving as watchdogs for the community and provides various services including traffic updates, crime reports, news, and commentaries on local, national, and international politics; and

 

     WHEREAS, Perry and Price has also served as Hawaii's designated emergency action radio program, delivering information from the Hawaii State Civil Defense to the people and communities around the State; and

 

     WHEREAS, in addition to their dedicated service to the people of Hawaii, the hosts of Perry and Price, Michael W. Perry and Larry Price donate their time and talent to local charities; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2016, that this body recognizes and commends Perry and Price for their outstanding accomplishments and for their continued service to the State of Hawaii.
