HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

HONORING THE AMERICAN MASSAGE THERAPY ASSOCIATION-HAWAII CHAPTER AND THE MASSAGE THERAPISTS ASSOCIATION OF HAWAII ON THEIR 20^TH ANNUAL LEGISLATIVE MASSAGE AWARENESS DAY AT THE STATE CAPITOL AND FOR THEIR COMMITMENT TO PROMOTING THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE AS INTEGRAL TO THE MAINTENANCE OF GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF THE PEOPLE OF HAWAII.

 

     WHEREAS, the work of local nonprofit organizations greatly benefits the quality of life of people in the State of Hawaii in which they serve the community in a positive manner and work towards improving the lives of others, and;

 

     WHEREAS, the AMERICAN MASSAGE THERAPY ASSOCIATION – HAWAII CHAPTER is branched out of the largest non-profit, professional association serving massage therapists, massage students, and massage schools and has approximately 500 members locally; and

    

     WHEREAS, the MASSAGE THERAPISTS ASSOCIATION OF HAWAII is a local organization whose aim is to educate its members of concerns, issues and trends in the massage therapy profession and inform the general public on the benefits of therapeutic massage and body work; and

 

     WHEREAS, the AMERICAN MASSAGE THERAPY ASSOCIATION – HAWAII CHAPTER and MASSAGE THERAPISTS ASSOCIATION OF HAWAII are organizations that strive to preserve and promote the profession of massage therapy and bodywork in the State of Hawaii; and

 

     WHEREAS, the AMERICAN MASSAGE THERAPY ASSOCIATION – HAWAII CHAPTER and MASSAGE THERAPISTS ASSOCIATION OF HAWAII have a history of commitment to service through standards that advance the profession, and engaging members in leadership roles to ensure value and relevance to the members of the organization; and

 

     WHEREAS, the AMERICAN MASSAGE THERAPY ASSOCIATION – HAWAII CHAPTER and MASSAGE THERAPISTS ASSOCIATION OF HAWAII seek to advance the profession through ethics and standards, continuing education, professional publications, legislative efforts, public education, and fostering the development of members; and

 

     WHEREAS, the AMERICAN MASSAGE THERAPY ASSOCIATION – HAWAII CHAPTER and MASSAGE THERAPISTS ASSOCIATION OF HAWAII work to establish massage therapy as integral to the maintenance of good health and complementary to the therapeutic process; and

 

     WHEREAS, the AMERICAN MASSAGE THERAPY ASSOCIATION – HAWAII CHAPTER and MASSAGE THERAPISTS ASSOCIATION OF HAWAII has participated in numerous community events and has raised funds for many charitable organizations; and

 

     WHEREAS, on April 17, 2015, the AMERICAN MASSAGE THERAPY ASSOCIATION – HAWAII CHAPTER and MASSAGE THERAPISTS ASSOCIATION OF HAWAII are holding the annual Legislative Massage Awareness Day for its 20th year to spread awareness; and

 

     WHEREAS, the theme of this year’s Legislative Massage Awareness Day is “Massage Promotes Quality of Life” which acknowledges the value of skilled touch to create wellness of mind, body and spirit; and

 

     WHEREAS, Arlene Estrella, Connie Cadiz, Dustin Ebesu and Mary Lynn Mahana Byington are influential members of the AMERICAN MASSAGE THERAPY ASSOCIATION – HAWAII CHAPTER and MASSAGE THERAPISTS ASSOCIATION OF HAWAII who have made exceptional contributions to the health and well-being of people in the community, now; therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2015, that this body hereby honors the AMERICAN MASSAGE THERAPY ASSOCIATION – HAWAII CHAPTER and MASSAGE THERAPISTS ASSOCIATION OF HAWAII on their 20^th annual Legislative Massage Awareness Day at the State Capitol and for their commitment to promoting therapeutic massage as integral  to the maintenance of good health and well-being of the people of Hawaii and extends its best wishes for continued success in future endeavors.
