House File 129 - Introduced HOUSE FILE BY BYRNES A BILL FOR 1 An Act prohibiting the operation of motor vehicles that have a 2 combustion engine supplied with nitrous oxide, and providing 3 a penalty. 4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: TLSB 1778YH (5) 86 ns/nh PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 321.447 Nitrous oxide systems 1 2 prohibited. 1 3 A person shall not operate a motor vehicle on the highways 1 4 of this state if the vehicle is equipped with a system that 1 5 supplies the vehicle's combustion engine with nitrous oxide 1 6 unless the system is disconnected from the combustion engine. 1 7 A violation of this section is a simple misdemeanor punishable 1 8 by a scheduled fine under section 805.8A, subsection 3. 1 9 Sec. 2. Section 805.8A, subsection 3, Code 2015, is amended 1 10 by adding the following new paragraph: 1 11 NEW PARAGRAPH. am. Section 321.447$100. 1 12 EXPLANATION 1 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 1 14 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly. 1 15 This bill prohibits the operation of a motor vehicle on the 1 16 highways of this state if the vehicle is equipped with a system 1 17 that supplies the vehicle's combustion engine with nitrous 1 18 oxide unless the system is disconnected from the combustion 1 19 engine. 1 20 The bill provides a scheduled fine for a violation of this 1 21 provision of $100.
