The
legislative
council
is
requested
to
establish
an

interim
study
committee
during
the
2023
legislative
interim

to
study
the
program
planning
for
degrees
in
the
colleges
of
23
education
of
the
institutions
of
higher
education
governed
24
by
the
state
board
of
regents
and
the
curriculum
necessary
25
for
completing
a
degree
in
elementary
education,
secondary
26
education,
or
any
other
major
within
the
institutions’
colleges
27
of
education.

2.
The
interim
study
committee
shall
consist
of
the
29
following
members:
30
a.
The
chairperson
of
the
committee
on
education
in
the
31
senate.

b.
The
chairperson
of
the
committee
on
education
in
the
33
house
of
representatives.

c.
Two
members
of
the
senate
appointed
by
the
majority

The
interim
study
committee
shall
submit
a
final
report,

including
findings
and
recommendations
for
policy
changes,
to

Sec.
3.
EFFECTIVE
DATE.
This
Act,
being
deemed
of
immediate
7
importance,
takes
effect
upon
enactment.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
institutions
of
higher
education

governed
by
the
state
board
of
regents,
including
requiring
the

institutions
to
submit
reports
to
the
general
assembly
related

to
terms
associated
with
courses
offered
by
institutions’

colleges
of
education
and
establishing
an
interim
study

committee
to
evaluate
practitioner
preparation
programs
offered

by
the
institutions.

The
bill
requires
the
institutions
to
submit
reports
to

the
general
assembly
by
February
27,
2023,
defining
with
20
specificity
certain
specified
concepts
and
terms
which
are
21
used
in
courses
related
to
education
that
are
offered
by
the
22
institutions.

The
bill
requests
that
the
legislative
council
establish
an
24
interim
study
committee
during
the
2023
legislative
interim
25
to
study
the
program
planning
for
degrees
in
the
colleges
of

education
of
the
institutions
and
the
curriculum
necessary

a
