  1  1    Section 1.  MEDICAID MANAGED CARE == DEVELOPMENT AND USE
  1  2 OF UNIFORM CREDENTIALING OF MEDICAID PROVIDERS.  In order to
  1  3 reduce the administrative burden on providers and increase
  1  4 efficiencies in the Medicaid program, the department of human
  1  5 services, in collaboration with the Iowa Medicaid enterprise
  1  6 and the Medicaid managed care organizations under contract with
  1  7 the state, shall develop, for implementation no later than
  1  8 October 1, 2018, uniform requirements and procedures for the
  1  9 credentialing of Medicaid providers. The department of human
  1 10 services shall adopt rules pursuant to chapter 17A and shall
  1 11 amend all Medicaid managed care contracts to administer this
  1 12 section.
  1 13    Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of immediate
  1 14 importance, takes effect upon enactment.
  1 15                           EXPLANATION
  1 16 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 17 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 18    This bill provides that in order to reduce the
  1 19 administrative burden on providers and increase efficiencies
  1 20 in the Medicaid program, the department of human services
  1 21 (DHS), in collaboration with the Iowa Medicaid enterprise
  1 22 and the Medicaid managed care organizations under contract
  1 23 with the state, shall develop, for implementation no later
  1 24 than October 1, 2018, uniform requirements and procedures for
  1 25 the credentialing of Medicaid providers. DHS is required to
  1 26 adopt administrative rules and amend all Medicaid managed care
  1 27 contracts to administer the bill. The bill takes effect upon
  1 28 enactment.
