Bill Title: Amends the Driver's License Medical Review Law of 1992 Article of the Illinois Vehicle Code. Allows an immediate family member of a person to submit information to the Secretary of State concerning the medical condition of that person if the condition interferes with the person's ability to operate a motor vehicle safely. Defines "immediate family member" as a parent, sibling, child by blood or adoption, stepchild, spouse, grandparent, or grandchild.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by | |||||||||||||||||||||
5 | changing Sections 6-901 and 6-911 as follows:

7 | Sec. 6-901. Definitions. For the purposes of this
Article:
| |||||||||||||||||||||
8 | "Board" means the Driver's License Medical Advisory Board. | |||||||||||||||||||||
9 | "Immediate family member" means a parent, sibling, child | |||||||||||||||||||||
10 | by blood or adoption, stepchild, spouse, grandparent, or | |||||||||||||||||||||
11 | grandchild.

12 | "Medical examiner" or "medical practitioner" means: | |||||||||||||||||||||
13 | (i) any
person licensed to practice medicine in all | |||||||||||||||||||||
14 | its branches in
the State of Illinois or any other state;

15 | (ii) a licensed physician assistant; or | |||||||||||||||||||||
16 | (iii) a licensed advanced practice registered nurse. | |||||||||||||||||||||

3 | to the Secretary relative to the medical condition of a

4 | person, including suspected chronic alcoholism or habitual use | ||||||
5 | of
narcotics or dangerous drugs, if the condition interferes | ||||||
6 | with the person's
ability to operate a motor vehicle safely. | ||||||
7 | Persons reporting under this
Section shall enjoy the same | ||||||
8 | immunities granted members of the Board under
Section 6-910.
