Bill Title: Amends the Driver's License Medical Review Law of 1992 Article of the Illinois Vehicle Code. Allows an immediate family member of a person to submit information to the Secretary of State concerning the medical condition of that person if the condition interferes with the person's ability to operate a motor vehicle safely. Defines "immediate family member" as a parent, sibling, child by blood or adoption, stepchild, spouse, grandparent, or grandchild.

1 AN ACT concerning transportation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5changing Sections 6-901 and 6-911 as follows:
6 (625 ILCS 5/6-901) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 6-901)
7 Sec. 6-901. Definitions. For the purposes of this Article:
8 "Board" means the Driver's License Medical Advisory Board.
9 "Immediate family member" means a parent, sibling, child
10by blood or adoption, stepchild, spouse, grandparent, or
11grandchild.
12 "Medical examiner" or "medical practitioner" means:
13 (i) any person licensed to practice medicine in all
14 its branches in the State of Illinois or any other state;
15 (ii) a licensed physician assistant; or
16 (iii) a licensed advanced practice registered nurse.

20practitioners; police officers; State's attorneys; immediate
21family members; or members of the judiciary. Any qualified
22medical practitioner, commissioned police officer, State's

1attorney, immediate family member, or member of the judiciary
2acting in his or her official capacity may submit information
3to the Secretary relative to the medical condition of a
4person, including suspected chronic alcoholism or habitual use
5of narcotics or dangerous drugs, if the condition interferes
6with the person's ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
7Persons reporting under this Section shall enjoy the same
8immunities granted members of the Board under Section 6-910.
