Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a commercial vehicle safety relocator legally residing in a county not subject to the provisions of the Illinois Commercial Safety Law may operate in a county that is subject to that law for the limited purpose of removing a damaged or disabled vehicle upon the request of the owner or operator to remove the vehicle and tow the vehicle across county lines to the county where the commercial vehicle safety relocator and owner or operator resides without being subject to the provisions of the Illinois Commercial Safety Law. Provides that the exemption does not apply to commercial safety relocators that legally reside in both counties.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding | ||||||
5 | Section 18d-117 as follows:

6 | (625 ILCS 5/18d-117 new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 18d-117. Exemption. | ||||||
8 | (a) A tower, as defined by Section 1-205.2 of this Code, | ||||||
9 | legally residing in a county not subject to this Chapter | ||||||
10 | pursuant to Section 18d-180 of this Chapter may operate in a | ||||||
11 | county that is subject to this Chapter pursuant to Section | ||||||
12 | 18d-180 for the limited purpose of removing a damaged or | ||||||
13 | disabled vehicle upon the request of the owner or operator | ||||||
14 | legally residing in a county not subject to this Chapter to | ||||||
15 | remove the vehicle and tow the vehicle across county lines to | ||||||
16 | the county where the tower and owner or operator resides. | ||||||
17 | (b) A tower operating for the limited purpose in subsection | ||||||
18 | (a) is not subject to the provisions of this Chapter. | ||||||
19 | (c) Subsection (a) does not apply to towers that legally | ||||||
20 | reside in both counties.
