2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Officer | ||||||
4 | James Brockmeyer of Chester, who passed away on October 28, | ||||||
5 | 2016 in the line of duty; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Officer Brockmeyer was born in Chester to Donald | ||||||
7 | and Dixie (Bowen)
Brockmeyer on April 30, 1994; he graduated | ||||||
8 | from Chester High School in 2012, where he played football, | ||||||
9 | basketball, and baseball; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Officer Brockmeyer worked for the City of Chester | ||||||
11 | Gas Department and part-time for Derek's Lawn Service in | ||||||
12 | Chester before joining the Chester Police Department; he was | ||||||
13 | also a volunteer fireman for the Chester Fire Department; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Officer Brockmeyer dedicated himself to public | ||||||
15 | service, demonstrated by his service as a firefighter and by | ||||||
16 | his commitment to the profession of law enforcement; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Officer Brockmeyer served as a cherished member of | ||||||
18 | the Chester Police and Fire Departments; he will be missed by | ||||||
19 | his fellow firefighters and brothers and sisters in blue; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Officer Brockmeyer was a member of St. John |

1 | Lutheran Church in Chester and the Randolph County Rod and
Gun | ||||||
2 | Club; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Officer Brockmeyer is survived by his parents; his | ||||||
4 | sister, Megan Brockmeyer; his fiance, Lauren Hoops; his | ||||||
5 | maternal grandmother, Joleen Bowen; and many aunts, uncles, | ||||||
6 | cousins,
friends, brothers and sisters in law enforcement, and | ||||||
7 | firefighters; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, May Officer Brockmeyer rest in peace; may his | ||||||
9 | memory live on in all those who carry on the mission to serve | ||||||
10 | and protect with the same honor and integrity; therefore, be it
| ||||||
11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
12 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
13 | mourn the passing of Officer James Brockmeyer, and extend our | ||||||
14 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
15 | and loved him; and be it further

16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
17 | presented to the family of Officer Brockmeyer as an expression | ||||||
18 | of our deepest sympathy.
