| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Isaiah Alexander Martinez | ||||||
| 4 | of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on winning the | ||||||
| 5 | 2014-2015 National Collegiate Athletic Association National | ||||||
| 6 | Championship in wrestling; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Isaiah Martinez was undefeated in the 2014-2015 | ||||||
| 8 | season with a record of 34 wins and 0 losses; he is the first | ||||||
| 9 | undefeated freshman national champion since 1999; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Isaiah Martinez was the 2014-2015 Big Ten Champion | ||||||
| 11 | and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Isaiah Martinez was one of 4 finalists for the | ||||||
| 13 | Hodge Award - wrestling's equivalent to the Heisman Trophy in | ||||||
| 14 | college football; and

| 15 | WHEREAS, Isaiah Martinez was a 3-time California High | ||||||
| 16 | School State Champion; in 2012, he was the National Junior | ||||||
| 17 | Freestyle Champion; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Isaiah Martinez's hometown is Lemoore, | ||||||
| 19 | California; his parents are Alfred Garcia and Yvonne Martinez | ||||||
| 20 | Garcia; he has 2 brothers, Isaac and Steven, and one sister, | ||||||
