HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Rosalind Dirks on
4 her retirement from the Illinois Department of Human Services;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, Rosalind was born to Mary Elizabeth and George
7 Daniel Huffman in the small town of Harlingen, Texas, which is
8 just outside of Brownsville; she is the oldest of four
9 daughters and, to all who know her, has shouldered the
10 responsibility of being the big sister with resiliency and
11 resolve; she married Harold Dirks on July 26, 1963 and they are
12 parents of three children, Bob, Lynn and Lisa; in addition,
13 they have six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; and
14 WHEREAS, Rosalind began her career in public service on
15 June 21, 1972 when she accepted a position at the Illinois
16 State Employees Retirement System; 28 years later she accepted
17 a position with the Illinois Department of Human Service,
18 Bureau of Title XX Social Services; and
19 WHEREAS, Anyone who knows Rosalind knows that she will
20 continue to be dedicated to her family, friends, church, and
21 her community after her retirement; and

1 WHEREAS, In addition to gardening, reading, and other
2 hobbies, one of Rosalind's first trips after retirement will be
3 a vacation in Canada with her son and his family; therefore, be
4 it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
7 congratulate Rosalind Dirks and wish her all the best in her
8 future endeavors; and be it further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to Rosalind Dirks as a symbol of our respect.
