2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kenneth | ||||||
4 | LeRoy Pritz, R.Ph. of Joliet, who passed away on April 12, | ||||||
5 | 2015; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz was the CEO, President, and | ||||||
7 | pharmacist of J.D. Brown & Company - the oldest drug store in | ||||||
8 | the State of Illinois; he and his wife were co-founders of The | ||||||
9 | Peanut Gallery, The Gift Box, and The Jacob Henry Mansion, | ||||||
10 | where he served as President; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz served as a Joliet City Councilman; | ||||||
12 | he also worked with The Bicentennial Park, Downtown Development | ||||||
13 | Committee, the Governor of Illinois' Clean and Beautiful Board, | ||||||
14 | the Joliet Youth Task Force, Habitat for Humanity, the Joliet | ||||||
15 | Region Chamber of Commerce, the JJC Foundation, the Cathedral | ||||||
16 | Area Preservation Association, the Pharmaceutical Association, | ||||||
17 | and the Joliet Kiwanis; he served as an Elder of the First | ||||||
18 | Presbyterian Church of Joliet and was a member of Wish Upon a | ||||||
19 | Star and the Moran Club; and

20 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz received numerous accolades during | ||||||
21 | his life, including the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, | ||||||
22 | Business/Retailer/Man of the Year award; the Joliet Chamber of |

1 | Commerce Outstanding Small Business of the Year Award, 2005; | ||||||
2 | the Joliet Area Historical Society Mary Barr West Award; the | ||||||
3 | Heritage Corridor Tourism Cultural Heritage Award; the | ||||||
4 | Cathedral area Preservation Association Annual Preservation | ||||||
5 | Award; and numerous other pharmaceutical and civic accolades; | ||||||
6 | and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz enjoyed traveling and photography; | ||||||
8 | he was an avid fan of U of I, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago | ||||||
9 | Bears, and loved spending time
with his family; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz was preceded in death by his | ||||||
11 | parents, Raymond O. and Agnes (Facinelli) Pritz and his father | ||||||
12 | and mother-in- law, Vivian and Raymond Kilgos; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz is survived by his wife of 56 years, | ||||||
14 | Carol S. (nee Kilgos); his 6 children, Susan (Larry) Bornhofen, | ||||||
15 | Jeff (Laura) Pritz, Jill (Dave) Umek, Anne (John) Doll, John | ||||||
16 | (Annette) Pritz, and Jim (Dawn) Pritz; his 21 grandchildren, | ||||||
17 | Elisabeth (Joe) Adler, Sarah (Jeremy) Orr, Amanda (Tommy) | ||||||
18 | Moretti, Anna Bornhofen, Megan (Joe) Felix, Matt and Vivian | ||||||
19 | Pritz, Stephanie, Adam, Maggie, Nick and Abbey Umek, Julie and | ||||||
20 | Jennifer Doll, Shyla, Ally, Connor, and Taytum Pritz, and Alex, | ||||||
21 | Thomas, and Ava Pritz; his 3 great-grandchildren, Joseph Adler, | ||||||
22 | V, Vivian Orr, and Claire Moretti, with one more | ||||||

3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
4 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
5 | mourn the passing of Kenneth LeRoy Pritz, R.Ph., and extend our | ||||||
6 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
7 | and loved him; and be it further

8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the family of Kenneth Pritz as an expression of | ||||||
10 | our deepest sympathy.
