HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize Claire Maddie Eisenstadt for
4her efforts to advocate for and fight prejudice against the
5Jewish community; and
6 WHEREAS, Claire Eisenstadt, of Northbrook, is the
7granddaughter of Holocaust survivors, and her family are
8members of three synagogues; she is currently a student at
9Glenbrook North High School, where she is a member of the swim
10team, a youth swim instructor, a featured dancer in dance and
11musical theater performances, and the first chair trumpet
12player of the school band; she was also a student of a
13sanctioned Hebrew high school; and
14 WHEREAS, While attending Glenbrook North High School,
15Claire Eisenstadt has developed skills in leadership and
16Jewish advocacy; during her study of F. Scott Fitzgerald's
17novel The Great Gatsby, she noticed that anti-Semitic tropes
18and stereotypes were going unacknowledged in class, which she
19brought to the attention of the school administration; through
20collaboration with the chair and faculty of the English
21Department, she helped advise the revision and amendment of
22the curriculum to incorporate discussion of anti-Semitism
23within the novel and to educate future English classes on the

1harm anti-Semitism can cause; for her efforts, she was
2recognized by Hadassah with a Leaders of Tomorrow Camp
3Scholarship Award, announced in the organization's national
4magazine and published in Jewish Chicago: The JUF Magazine;
5she was also asked to lead the Holocaust Remembrance Assembly
6on April 25, 2023 and has expressed plans to also lead the 2024
7presentation; and
8 WHEREAS, Claire Eisenstadt is active in several Jewish
9youth groups, including Young Judea, the United Synagogue
10Youth (USY), the Bnai Brith Youth Organization (BBYO), and the
11National Conference of Synagogue Youth (NCSY); she founded the
12Young Judea Chicago Chapter in May 2022 and serves as the
13current president; she has previously served as vice president
14of USY Jewish Education from August 2022 to June 2023, as vice
15president of BBYO Jewish Education from January 2022 to June
162022, and as a member of the NCSY General Board from September
172021 to June 2022; and
18 WHEREAS, While a sophomore at the Jewish Community Center
19(JCC), Claire Eisenstadt was invited to join the American
20Jewish Committee (AJC) Leaders For Tomorrow (LFT) youth
21leadership program, supported by Congressman Brad Schneider;
22in recognition of her incredible contributions to the AJC LFT
23program at the JCC, her passion for the Jewish people and
24Israel advocacy, her engagement with peers, her ability to

1invoke critical insight and to contribute to a more thoughtful
2and enjoyable atmosphere, and her strong grasp of Jewish and
3Israeli history and her ability to weave this knowledge
4seamlessly into her personal narrative as an advocate, she
5received the highly selective invitation to attend the AJC
6Global Forum in Tel Aviv Israel in June 2023; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we congratulate Claire Maddie Eisenstadt for her work on
10promoting Jewish identity, combating anti-Semitism, and
11representing the Jewish community on a global stage, and we
