2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Marco E. Jacome on the | ||||||
4 | occasion of his retirement as CEO of Healthcare Alternative | ||||||
5 | Systems, Inc. (H.A.S.); and

6 | WHEREAS, Marco Jacome has had a 45-year career in the | ||||||
7 | field of social services, working for the behavioral health | ||||||
8 | care organization H.A.S. for the past 40 years, where he has | ||||||
9 | served as CEO for the past 32 years; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, As part of his involvement in the field of | ||||||
11 | alcohol and substance abuse, Marco Jacome has advocated for | ||||||
12 | more state and federal services for minority communities; he | ||||||
13 | has served as a regional advisory board member for the Great | ||||||
14 | Lakes Addiction Technology Transfer Center and as a board | ||||||
15 | member of the Norwegian American Hospital Foundation; he | ||||||
16 | previously served as board president of the Illinois | ||||||
17 | Association of Behavioral Health (IABH), the Illinois Alcohol | ||||||
18 | and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association | ||||||
19 | (IAODAPCA), and Advanced Behavioral Health (ABC), MCO; he also | ||||||
20 | previously served as a board member of St. Elizabeth's | ||||||
21 | Hospital and as board treasurer of the Northern Illinois | ||||||
22 | Employee Assistance Professionals Association; and

1 | WHEREAS, At the federal level, Marco Jacome is a member of | ||||||
2 | the Hispanic Latino Caucus for the Target Capacity Expansion | ||||||
3 | for the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), the | ||||||
4 | Cultural Competency and Diversity Network, and the Prevention | ||||||
5 | Partnership Organization, where he serves as an active board | ||||||
6 | member; he previously served as a member of the CSAT National | ||||||
7 | Advisory Council; and

8 | WHEREAS, Marco Jacome is a Licensed Professional Counselor | ||||||
9 | (LPC) through the State of Illinois, a Certified Employee | ||||||
10 | Assistance Professional (CEAP), and an Illinois Certified | ||||||
11 | Supervisor Addictions Counselor (CSADC), with a bachelor's | ||||||
12 | degree in psychology and sociology from North Park University | ||||||
13 | and a graduate degree in family and community counseling from | ||||||
14 | Northeastern University; he was selected to participate in a | ||||||
15 | fellowship program at the School of Public Health at Boston | ||||||
16 | University and a fellowship program at the John F. Kennedy | ||||||
17 | School of Government and Business School at Harvard | ||||||
18 | University; more recently, he was selected as a fellow to | ||||||
19 | participate in a social entrepreneur program at Stanford | ||||||
20 | University; and

21 | WHEREAS, Marco Jacome has received a number of accolades | ||||||
22 | over the course of his career, including being named as one of | ||||||
23 | Hispanic Business magazine's 100 Influential, its yearly | ||||||
24 | selection of Latinos who have made significant, national |

1 | contributions in government, business, or academics, in 2010; | ||||||

5 | we congratulate Marco E. Jacome on his retirement as CEO of | ||||||
