HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend 11-year-old Ayla Brookman and
412-year-old London Robbers for their heroic actions on April
57, 2024; and
6 WHEREAS, While returning from the grocery store, Ayla
7Brookman and London Robbers spotted a fire in Steve's Antique
8Store, prompting them to report the blaze by running to the
9fire station located three blocks away from the scene of the
10fire; and
11 WHEREAS, Ayla Brookman and London Robbers' swift reporting
12of the fire allowed firefighters to quickly extinguish the
13flames, later determined to be caused by old wiring in the
14elevator of the historic downtown building on the corner of
15East Main and Washington Streets; and
16 WHEREAS, Due to the courageous actions of Ayla Brookman
17and London Robbers, thousands of dollars in property damage
18was prevented, and lives were saved by preventing the flames
19from spreading and growing out of control; and
20 WHEREAS, In honor of their actions, Ayla Brookman and
21London Robbers were presented with certificates of

1appreciation from the Salem Fire Protection District and Salem
2Mayor Nick Farley; therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5we commend Ayla Brookman and London Robbers for their bravery
6and quick thinking in reporting a fire on April 7, 2024, and we
7thank them on behalf of the citizens of Salem, the Salem City
8Council, and the State of Illinois; and be it further
