Bill Title: Amends the Environmental Barriers Act. Requires the Attorney General, beginning July 31, 2020 and by July 31 of every year thereafter, to provide data on the Attorney General's website about annual enforcement efforts performed under the Act, including, but not limited to, the following: the total number of open compliance investigations each year; the 10 most frequent complaints received under the Act that are under investigation each year; the total number of complaints received under the Act annually; and assistance provided to constituents throughout the State on the Attorney General's disability rights technical assistance line.

1 | AN ACT concerning government.
| ||||||
2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
4 | Section 5. The Attorney General Act is amended by adding | ||||||
5 | Section 10 as follows:
| ||||||
6 | (15 ILCS 205/10 new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 10. Complaint data collection. | ||||||
8 | (a) The Attorney General shall compile data concerning | ||||||
9 | accessibility violations and post that information on the | ||||||
10 | Internet website of the Attorney General as provided under this | ||||||
11 | Section. | ||||||
12 | (b) The Attorney General shall identify the various types | ||||||
13 | of construction-related physical access violations alleged in | ||||||
14 | complaints, and shall tabulate the number of claims alleged for | ||||||
15 | each type of violation in the complaints and the number of | ||||||
16 | complaints in which the alleged violations were founded. | ||||||
17 | (c) Periodically, but not less than every 6 months | ||||||
18 | beginning July 31, 2020, the Attorney General shall post on the | ||||||
19 | Internet website of the Attorney General a list, by type, of | ||||||
20 | the 10 most frequent types of accessibility violations alleged | ||||||
21 | in the complaints and the number of alleged violations for each | ||||||
22 | listed type of violation for the prior 2 quarters, as well as | ||||||
23 | the number of complaints in which the alleged violations were |

2 | (d) The Attorney General shall, on a quarterly basis, | ||||||
3 | identify and tabulate the number of accessibility violation | ||||||
4 | complaints received by the Office of the Attorney General and | ||||||
5 | the number of those complaints received by the Attorney General | ||||||
6 | in which the alleged violations were founded. The Attorney | ||||||
7 | General shall further ascertain whether a complaint was filed | ||||||
8 | in State or federal court, and tabulate the number of | ||||||
9 | complaints filed in State or federal court, respectively. This | ||||||
10 | data shall be posted on the Attorney General's Internet website | ||||||
11 | periodically, but not less than every 6 months beginning July | ||||||
12 | 31, 2020. | ||||||
13 | (e) Beginning in 2020, and for each year thereafter, the | ||||||
14 | Attorney General shall submit an annual report to the General | ||||||
15 | Assembly on or before January 31 of the tabulated data for the | ||||||
16 | preceding calendar year as provided under subsections (b), (c), | ||||||
17 | and (d).

18 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
19 | becoming law.
