415 ILCS 5/9.12a new

Amends the Environmental Protection Act. Provides that the Environmental Protection Agency shall provide notice when a permit for a new facility is required.

1 AN ACT concerning safety.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended by
5adding Section 9.12a as follows:
6 (415 ILCS 5/9.12a new)
7 Sec. 9.12a. Notice. When a permit for a new facility is
8required by this Title II, the Agency shall provide notice: (i)
9by certified or registered mail or, upon request,
10electronically, to the State Senator and State Representative
11of the district where the facility will be located; and (ii) to
12the public via a posting on its website in a format that is
13searchable by zip code. Within 6 months after the effective
14date of this amendatory Act of the 101st General Assembly, the
15Agency shall adopt rules to implement this Section.
