SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
215 ILCS 5/143.24e new

Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that no insurer may increase the premium or rate charged on a policy of motor vehicle insurance or cancel such policy as a result of the insured person's involvement in a multivehicle accident or car theft when the insured person was not at fault in such accident or car theft.

1 AN ACT concerning regulation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding
5Section 143.24e as follows:
6 (215 ILCS 5/143.24e new)
7 Sec. 143.24e. Premium increase or cancellation prohibited.
8An insurer shall not increase the premium or rate charged on a
9policy of motor vehicle insurance or cancel such policy as a
10result of the insured person's involvement in a multivehicle
11accident or car theft when the insured person was not at fault
12in such accident or car theft.
