SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
10 ILCS 5/7-10.5 new

Amends the Election Code. 1 AN ACT concerning elections.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Section
57-10.5 as follows:
6 (10 ILCS 5/7-10.5 new)
7 Sec. 7-10.5. Petition validity. Notwithstanding any
8provision of law to the contrary, if a deviation from the
9requirements for petitions under this Code is minor or
10technical in nature and does not defeat the thrust, purpose,
11and effect of the Code or affect the intent to guarantee a fair
12and honest election, the defect in the petitions shall not
13render the petition invalid.
