2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to | ||||||
3 | congratulate Dave Marsh on his retirement from full-time | ||||||
4 | employment as Illinois State Dental Society Director of | ||||||
5 | Governmental Relations and to commend him for his commitment | ||||||
6 | to improving oral healthcare for the residents of Illinois; | ||||||
7 | and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Dave Marsh is a Springfield native who graduated | ||||||
9 | from Springfield High School, attended Lincoln Land Community | ||||||
10 | College, and later went to Sangamon State University; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Dave Marsh furthered his education by earning a | ||||||
12 | master's degree in legal studies from then Sangamon State | ||||||
13 | University; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Dave Marsh served in the U.S. Marine Corps; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Dave Marsh worked for various agencies in | ||||||
16 | Illinois government for 15 years under Governor Jim Thompson's | ||||||
17 | administration; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Dave Marsh also worked as an appropriation | ||||||
19 | staffer for the Senate Republican Staff; and

1 | WHEREAS, Dave Marsh was a legislative liaison for the | ||||||
2 | former Department of Commerce and Community Affairs, where he | ||||||
3 | enjoyed working with both sides of the aisle in both chambers; | ||||||
4 | and

5 | WHEREAS, Through that experience, Dave Marsh landed a job | ||||||
6 | with the Illinois State Dental Society, where he has been | ||||||
7 | employed as the Director of Governmental Relations for over 32 | ||||||
8 | years; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, During his tenure, Dave Marsh has worked in a | ||||||
10 | bipartisan manner to advocate for the passage of over 200 | ||||||
11 | pieces of legislation designed to improve dental care in | ||||||
12 | Illinois; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Dave Marsh's greatest legislative accomplishments | ||||||
14 | have included obtaining insurance coverage for cleft/lip | ||||||
15 | palate surgery for children, obtaining better Medicaid | ||||||
16 | coverage for preventative services for adults, and ensuring | ||||||
17 | that dental care continues to be a crucial component of the | ||||||
18 | State's Medicaid budget; and

19 | WHEREAS, Dave Marsh is the longest tenured Governmental | ||||||
20 | Affairs Director of any state dental association; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Dave Marsh looks forward to having more time to |

2 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
3 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dave | ||||||
4 | Marsh on his retirement from full-time employment as Illinois | ||||||
5 | State Dental Society Director of Governmental Relations and | ||||||
6 | commend him on his many years of service on behalf of dentists | ||||||
7 | in the State of Illinois; and be it further

8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to Dave Marsh as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
