| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Donald "Don" M. Hoover of Moline, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on March 21, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Don Hoover was born to George A. and Mildred R. | ||||||
6 | Jordan Hoover in Moline on December 2, 1935; he graduated from | ||||||
7 | Alleman High School in 1954 and then joined the U.S. Marine | ||||||
8 | Corps Reserves; he later entered active duty in the Marine | ||||||
9 | Corps, where he honorably served in Japan, the Philippine | ||||||
10 | Islands, and Puerto Rico; he earned the rank of sergeant at the | ||||||
11 | time of his discharge in 1958;
he married Carol Jean Mirr in | ||||||
12 | Moline on August 17, 1957; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Don Hoover began working for John Deere Harvester | ||||||
14 | Works in 1959; he retired as a supervisor in 1985; following | ||||||
15 | his retirement, he began his own business as a general | ||||||
16 | contractor from which he retired in 2014; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, In 1976, Don Hoover built a new home, and the | ||||||
18 | family moved to Rustic Acres near Colona, where he served on | ||||||
19 | the board of the lake association; in earlier years, he was a | ||||||
20 | member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, and a | ||||||
21 | member and an officer for the Willow Springs Swim Club; he was | ||||||
22 | also a member of the Mississippi Valley Antique Car Club; and

1 | WHEREAS, Don Hoover enjoyed antique cars, traveling, | ||||||
2 | family card games, bowling, and dancing with his wife; he was | ||||||
3 | also interested in history and geography; he served as the | ||||||
4 | family's Jack of all Trades whenever needed; he never met a | ||||||
5 | stranger and enjoyed sharing his sense of humor with all; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Don Hoover was preceded in death by his father | ||||||
7 | and stepmother, George and Julia Hoover; his mother and | ||||||
8 | stepfather, Mildred and Paul Schnell; his brother, Roger; and | ||||||
9 | his grandparents; and

10 | WHEREAS, Don Hoover is survived by his wife, Carol Jean; | ||||||
11 | his children, Tamara "Tammy" (Norman) Pearson, Lisa (Jeff) | ||||||
12 | Day, Cynthia "Cindy" Brown (Kurt Hendrickson), Monica Bottom, | ||||||
13 | Jennifer "Jenny" (Jeff) Hoogerwerf, and Jay (Noelle) Hoover; | ||||||
14 | his grandchildren, Josh and Jake Pearson, Aimee, Erik, and Ian | ||||||
15 | Butterworth, Ashley and Missi Brown, Rachel and Nicole Bottom, | ||||||
16 | Jennaca Hollinger, Tyler and Tess Hoogerwerf, Autumn Sender, | ||||||
17 | and Sydney and Hunter Hoover; his great-grandchildren, Jacob, | ||||||
18 | Jack, Ethan, Rowan, and Teigen; his sisters-in-law, Janet | ||||||
19 | Robinson, Betty Dies, and Marge Mirr; his brother-in-law, Dale | ||||||
20 | (Lana) Mirr; his nieces and nephews; and his additional family | ||||||
21 | and friends; therefore, be it

1 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
2 | Donald "Don" M. Hoover and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
3 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||

5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to the family of Don Hoover as an expression of our | ||||||
7 | deepest sympathy.
