SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Gerald "Jerry" Bear, who passed away on
May 17, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Jerry Bear was a visionary with an entrepreneurial
spirit who opened McDonald's restaurants in the early days of
the franchise; when he saw a need for Jewish education, he
founded the Bear Family Hebrew School; and
WHEREAS, Although work and philanthropy were important,
Jerry Bear's life revolved around his love for his family; and
WHEREAS, Jerry Bear was the beloved husband of 59 years of
Marcelle, the loving father of Marc (Akvile), Brian (Andrea),
David, and Kevin Bear, and the cherished grandfather of
Benjamin, Joshua, Nicole, Lauren, Adam, Emily, and Olivia;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Gerald "Jerry" Bear and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Jerry Bear as an expression of our
deepest sympathy.
