2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Jack Carl Parish, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | October 20, 2023; and

5 | WHEREAS, Jack Parish was born to Field and Annie Bell | ||||||
6 | Parish in Lake Village, Arkansas on January 28, 1935; he | ||||||
7 | attended Coleman High School in Greenville, Mississippi, where | ||||||
8 | he laid the foundation for a life devoted to the art of | ||||||
9 | bricklaying; he married Ruth M. Clark on June 9, 1957, and they | ||||||
10 | had seven children together; and

11 | WHEREAS, Jack Parish joined the esteemed Local 56 of the | ||||||
12 | International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, | ||||||
13 | leaving an indelible mark on countless projects and hearts; he | ||||||
14 | was deeply dedicated to the craft, becoming a mentor and | ||||||
15 | imparting his knowledge to a new generation of craftsmen; and

16 | WHEREAS, Jack Parish was deeply committed to his faith and | ||||||
17 | made sure his family's spiritual journey was grounded in the | ||||||
18 | sanctuary of their church; beyond his work and faith, he | ||||||
19 | reveled in the simple joys of life, including going on camping | ||||||
20 | trips, traveling on the open road, and spending time with his | ||||||
21 | grandchildren; and

2 | embraced his roles as a husband, father, and provider with | ||||||
3 | grace and unwavering commitment; and

4 | WHEREAS, Jack Parish was the father of Jack C. (Lorraine) | ||||||
5 | Parish Jr., Kenneth C. (Katie) Parish, Katherine D. (Leroy) | ||||||
6 | Parish Rush, the late Cheneta (Gus Oldham Sr.) Parish-Oldham, | ||||||
7 | Aundra (Carolyn) Parish, Reginald A. (Barb) Parish, and | ||||||
8 | Mondell R. (Billy) Parish; the grandfather of 23; the | ||||||
9 | great-grandfather of 37; the brother of the late Shirley | ||||||
10 | (Milton) Ganison, the late Rubye (Robert) Barber, the late | ||||||
11 | Jean (Leroy) Singleton, the late Marva (Harold) Robinson, the | ||||||
12 | late Debra (Vernon) Gause, the late Phield (Hester) Parish, | ||||||
13 | and the late Montrose (Judy) Parish; the steadfast companion | ||||||
14 | of Jimmy and Ester Viverette and Dorothy Bentley Myles; and | ||||||
15 | the uncle and cousin of many; therefore, be it

17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
18 | Jack Carl Parish and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
