SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James Robert "Jim" King, who passed
4away on November 18, 2023; and
5 WHEREAS, Jim King was born to Robert and Virginia (Braden)
6King in Pekin on July 2, 1942; he served aboard the USS O'Hare
7in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965, during which he
8participated in the naval blockade over the course of the
9Cuban Missle Crisis; he married Cheryl (Harris) King in Morton
10on October 15, 1966; and
11 WHEREAS, Jim King worked as an electrician with IBEW Local
1234 for 36 years, retiring in 2001; and
13 WHEREAS, Jim King enjoyed spending time on the lake and
14teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish; he loved
15hunting, cutting wood, and reading; he was creative and had a
16knack for inventing tools to make his life easier; he was also
17a fierce euchre player and a practical joker; and
18 WHEREAS, Jim King was preceded in death by his parents and
19his brother, John "Jack" King; and
20 WHEREAS, Jim King is survived by his children, Jeff

1(Evelyn), Jennifer (Greg), and Jamie (Daniel); three
2grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two granddogs;
3therefore, be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6James Robert "Jim" King and extend our sincere condolences to
7his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
