SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Edward L. "Ed" Freebern of East
4Moline, who passed away on February 1, 2024; and
5 WHEREAS, Ed Freebern was born to Edward J. and Essie
6Culley Freebern in Silvis on August 12, 1931; he served in the
7U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict; he married Nancy Hoexter
8in Rock Island on April 14, 1956; and
9 WHEREAS, Ed Freebern worked for the Rock Island Line in
10his earlier years; he later worked in product development at
11John Deere, retiring in 1992 after 26 years of service; and
12 WHEREAS, Ed Freebern was a member of the East Moline
13American Legion Post 227, where he proudly served in the Honor
14Guard; and
15 WHEREAS, Ed Freebern had recently participated in an Honor
16Flight; he was a fan of the Chicago Bears; and
17 WHEREAS, Ed Freebern was preceded in death by his parents
18and his sister, Margaret Lloyd; and
19 WHEREAS, Ed Freebern is survived by his wife; his sons,

1Kevin (Wendy) Freebern, Keith (Kathleen) Freebern, and Craig
2(Jacque) Freebern; his grandchildren, Kyle Freebern, Jenna
3(Bradley) Johnson, and Kayla Freebern; and his sister, Jane
4(Mike) Bare; therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Edward L. "Ed" Freebern and extend our sincere condolences to
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
