SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Child Care Aware of America and other
3organizations are recognizing child care providers across the
4country on May 10, 2024; and
5 WHEREAS, Child care providers provide a safe, nurturing
6environment for the enrichment and development of millions of
7children nationwide, and they are a vital force to the U.S.
8economy; and
9 WHEREAS, The COVID-19 pandemic illuminated how
10indispensable child care providers are for the well-being and
11economic security of young children, families, and communities
12in Illinois; and
13 WHEREAS, Child care programs, which are mostly small
14businesses predominantly run and staffed by women, continue to
15recover from the health and financial hardships stemming from
16the pandemic while attempting to meet the needs of more
17families; and
18 WHEREAS, Child care has been and continues to be a
19lifeline for families, communities, and the economy; and
20 WHEREAS, The future depends on the quality of early

1childhood experiences provided to young children today, and
2support for high-quality child care represents a worthy
3commitment to our children's future; therefore, be it
4 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare May 10, 2024
6as Provider Appreciation Day in the State of Illinois; and be
