1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Florence (nee Hruskovich) Hovanec of | ||||||
4 | Lincolnshire, who passed away on August 16, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Florence Hovanec attended George Rogers Clark | ||||||
6 | High School in Hammond, Indiana and received her degree in | ||||||
7 | education from Indiana University; she lived most of her life | ||||||
8 | in Whiting, Indiana, before moving to Lincolnshire in 2014; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Florence Hovanec began teaching in 1941 in Dyer, | ||||||
10 | Indiana, and later, Hammond; she then taught for many years at | ||||||
11 | St. John The Baptist Catholic School in Whiting; she retired in | ||||||
12 | the early 1980s, but continued to teach as a substitute; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Florence Hovanec was proud of her Slovak heritage; | ||||||
14 | she was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies | ||||||
15 | Association; she was also a member of the Women's Guild of | ||||||
16 | Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Florence Hovanec was preceded in death by her | ||||||
18 | husband, Joseph; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Florence Hovanec is survived by her sons, Tom and | ||||||
20 | Tim, and her 5 grandchildren; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
3 | Florence Hovanec, and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
4 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
5 | further
| ||||||
6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
7 | presented to the family of Florence Hovanec as an expression of | ||||||
8 | our deepest sympathy.
