| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Chief Master Sergeant James R. "Bob" | ||||||
| 4 | Flynn of Springfield, who passed away on June 4, 2020; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, CMSgt Flynn was born in Springfield to James T. | ||||||
| 6 | and Helen (Barrett) Flynn in December of 1934; he graduated | ||||||
| 7 | from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in 1952; he | ||||||
| 8 | married Betty Wagner on November 30, 1963; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, CMSgt Flynn served in the Illinois Air National | ||||||
| 10 | Guard as a member of the 183rd Tactical Fighter unit in | ||||||
| 11 | Springfield; he retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after 37 | ||||||
| 12 | years of service; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, CMSgt Flynn was devoted to his faith and was a | ||||||
| 14 | member of St. Joseph's Parish in Springfield; he enjoyed | ||||||
| 15 | bowling, playing pinochle with his friends, and watching | ||||||
| 16 | sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals; he loved his dogs | ||||||
| 17 | and bird; he was known for being quick with a joke or a witty | ||||||
| 18 | retort; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, CMSgt Flynn is survived by his wife of 56 years, | ||||||
| 20 | Bertha M. "Betty" Flynn; his children, Sheri (Brian) McMillan, | ||||||
| 21 | Jeff Flynn, Monty (Priscilla) Flynn, Catherine (Mike) | ||||||

| 1 | Copeland, James A. Flynn, and Sherman (Dessa) Smith; his | ||||||
| 2 | grandchildren, Amanda, Josh, Ben, Mackenzie, Madeline, | ||||||
| 3 | Alexandra, Nicolas, Elizabeth, Haydn, and Oskar; his eight | ||||||
| 4 | great-grandchildren; his siblings, Patricia (John, deceased) | ||||||

| 11 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
| 12 | and loved him; and be it further

| 13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to the family of James Flynn as an expression of our | ||||||
| 15 | deepest sympathy.
