SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Eugene Mitchell "Gene" Snarski of
4Waukegan, who passed away on September 2, 2014; and
5 WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski was born on April 15, 1927 to
6Charlotte R. and Narcyz "Nicholas" Snarski; he graduated from
7Holy Rosary Catholic Grade School in North Chicago in 1940; he
8graduated from Waukegan Township High School in May of 1944,
9where he played in the Junior band and took part in Junior
10Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC), in which he attained
11the rank of Captain; he married Sally Reynolds Sexton on
12February 13, 1954 at St. Anastasia Catholic Parish in Waukegan;
13and
14 WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski began attending the University of
15Notre Dame in June of 1944, but his studies were interrupted
16when he was drafted into the United States Army; after
17completing basic training, he was transferred to Camp Hood,
18Texas, where he became an Infantry Rifleman; he served at the
19Field Artillery Camp at Fort Sill, Oklahoma from June 21, 1945,
20to October 31, 1946, when he was honorably discharged as a
21Private First Class from the Headquarters Battery of the Fifth
22Field Artillery Group of the United States Army; after the
23completion of his military service, he was readmitted to the

1University of Notre Dame and graduated with honors on January
230, 1949; and
3 WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski graduated from the Northwestern
4University School of Law on January 30, 1952; he was admitted
5to the Illinois Bar on November 17, 1952 and obtained a
6position with the law firm of Hall, Meyer and Van Deusen; in
71955, he began working for James Herman and Co. as a claims
8adjuster and engaged in the practice of law with Charles May;
9he served as a felony probation officer for Lake County from
101955 to 1962; in 1956, he joined the firm of Lidschin and
11Pucin; he later became a partner at the law firm of Conzelman,
12Schultz, O'Meara, and Snarski; he served as the city attorney
13for the cities of Park City, Round Lake, and Kildeer and as the
14assistant city attorney for the City of Waukegan, where he also
15served as the city secretary; additionally, he served as the
16Treasurer of the Lake County Bar Association for 5 years; he
17practiced law until his retirement on January 31, 2006; and
18 WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski was preceded in death by his wife
19of 60 years, Sally; and
20 WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski is survived by all 8 of his and
21Sally's children; daughter, Elisabeth (F. Steven) Bissell; 3
22children, Katherine (Eric) Richardson, Maria, and Eleanor; her
23son, William; daughter, Sarah (Robert) Berrett; 2 children,

1Kaitlyn and Emily; triplet sons, Thomas (Marijean); 2 children,
2Theresa and Rebecca; Andrew (Cindy); 2 children, Nicole and
3Alexander; and Timothy (Shawn); 4 children, Felicia, Marianna,
4Andrea, and Amelia; son, Nicholas (Jill); 4 children, Stephen,
5Madeline, Sally, and Nicholas; daughter, Maria (A. Peter
6Giorgianni); 3 children, Peter, Annalise, and Alex; his sister,
7Generose Szostak; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Eugene Mitchell "Gene" Snarski, and extend our sincere
11condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
12him; and be it further
13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Eugene Snarski as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
