    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating Natalie Schmett on winning the 2010 girls golf state championship.

    Whereas, On October 2, 2010, Natalie Schmett of Evansville North High School became the first girl from Evansville to win the individual state golf championship;

    Whereas, Natalie scored 141, three under par, setting a new course record for The Legends of Indiana golf course in Franklin, Indiana. Natalie's score is the second lowest 36 hole score in the 38 year history of the tournament;

    Whereas, Natalie finished the tournament as the only player under par. She won by five strokes over the second place finisher, and ten strokes over the third place finisher, to clinch the 2010 Indiana High School Athletic Association state championship;

    Whereas, Natalie's state championship was the ninth individual state championship in Evansville North High School's history;

    Whereas, Winning the state championship was a capstone to an incredible career for Natalie. Her individual season record was an astonishing 667 wins and 2 losses, a 99.7 percent winning percentage;


    Whereas, Natalie was the captain of her team during her senior season. She was selected to the All-City, All- Conference, All-Sectional, All-Regional, and All-State teams. In addition to her State Championship, she was the City, Conference, and Sectional Champion;

    Whereas, During her career, Natalie has been a three- time City Champion, two-time Conference Champion, four- time Sectional Champion, and three-time Regional Champion. She has been a State Finalist all four years of her career and is a four-time All-City, All-Conference, All- Sectional, All-Regional, and All-State Honoree;

    Whereas, Natalie's accomplishments have earned her a full scholarship to Jacksonville University in Florida; and

    Whereas, Natalie Schmett has enjoyed an exceptionally successful high school golf career, becoming the first girl from Evansville to win a state golf championship. This achievement took a tremendous amount of preparation and perseverance, and her accomplishment is to be commended: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:


    SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly congratulates Natalie Schmett on winning the 2010 girls golf state championship.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Natalie's parents, Brian and Ann Schmett.
