MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION urging the Legislative Council
to assign an interim study committee to study Indiana's grand
jury system.
Whereas, Indiana's grand jury system is in need of review
to determine whether the system should be changed or
eliminated: Therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the
General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
SECTION 1. That the Legislative Council is urged to assign the Commission on Courts, or other appropriate committee the task of studying the grand jury system and making recommendations as to whether it should be changed or eliminated.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Legislative Council through the Executive Director of the Legislative Services Agency.
